NAIN is an
Entrepreneurship Development Program launched under the startup
policy-2015. It focuses on creating an ecosystem to promote
innovation and entrepreneurship in Karnataka. Under this scheme
K-tech innovation Hubs are established in various districts of
Karnataka which are fully funded by government of Karnataka. The
students studying in different disciplines are motivated by
project funding and mentoring to set up their own start-ups for
self -employment.
The Government of Karnataka, Department of IT, BT, and S&T has
sanctioned NAIN centre at Sharnbasva University of engineering
and Technology, Kalaburgi, based on the infrastructure
facilities available and other Research and Innovation
activities conducted by the college.
The centre shall focus on igniting the young minds and provide
the necessary infrastructure and mentoring to take the concepts
of the students from idea to POC stage and then give them the
necessary guidance and provide the platform to become successful
entrepreneurs.
Under the New Age Incubation Network, students are encouraged to
identify local problems and address those using concepts of
frugal innovation, and to develop appropriate technology-based
solutions and working prototypes. Sharnbasva University NAIN
centre shall provide mentors assigned to the students to help
them to formulate a business model based on this new technology
and encourage them to think like entrepreneurs.
The projects which get shortlisted shall receive a funding of
Rs. 3 lakhs for the development of the POC. For each of the
project, there shall be a faculty from the concerned department
and an industry expert to guide the students in developing the
prototype and making the product commercially viable.
The University has incubation center spanning over 2500 sq.ft.
The Center has air-conditioned working spaces, Meeting rooms and
high-speed internet connectivity with the best configured
computers. The center has mentors from Industry as well as
successful local entrepreneurs on-board. The Center extends
technical, management and legal support to the young
entrepreneurs who are willing to take-off.
The main
objective is to encourage students, research scholars and alumni
to share their ideas to solve chosen problems which are local
centric and to validate, Refine and Nurture ideas.
Incubation center shall provide an
ecosystem to convert ideas into proofs of concept and upgrade
them to a level of commercial value.
After successful incubation, encourage
and lead the teams towards setting up a business enterprise.
The
department has established training placements and research labs
such as Embedded Systems Lab, IOT Lab, VLSI Lab with the latest
technical tools for encouraging students and research scholars
in updating their knowledge on the latest technology.
To bridge
the gap between industry and institute, the students are exposed
to various professional activities like invited talks by
industry experts, inter collegiate workshops/ conferences. The
department conducts Technical Symposium’s and National level
Project Symposium’s evaluated by Industry experts from Industry
and Alumni on a regular basis. The students are given technical
training on industry requirements for quality internship and
placement. The students are placed in several reputed MNC’s like
Samsung Semiconductor, Ampere, Cadence, Broadcom, Nvidia, Analog
Devices, Xilinx, Tech-Mahindra, Cognizant, TCS, CISCO, DRDO, GE,
Seimens etc.
